Crieff

A Charming Perthshire Town

Nestled in the heart of Perthshire, surrounded by rolling hills, rivers, and lush countryside, Crieff is a historic market town that beautifully blends tradition, scenery, and warm Scottish hospitality. Whether you’re visiting for the day or planning a longer stay, Crieff offers a wealth of attractions, activities, and stories to discover.

A Town Steeped in History

Crieff has a rich and fascinating past. Once the main cattle-droving crossroads of Scotland, it became famous in the 18th century as the gathering point for Highland cattle traders who brought their herds to market. These fairs often attracted thousands of people and played a crucial role in the Scottish economy.

Today, you can still feel that heritage in the town’s architecture, narrow lanes, and at local attractions like the Crieff & Strathearn Drovers’ Exhibition, which tells the story of the drovers and their way of life.

Crieff is also known for its association with James Drummond, 1st Duke of Perth, and the Jacobite Risings, adding another fascinating layer to its history.
